Flavián Mucci O.F.M.’S
Biography
•
Father Flavian was born
in March 1, 1935, in Boston Massachusetts, one of the important
seaports on the Atlantic coast in the United States. He was baptized
Dominic John, later his name was changed to Flavian when he received
the Franciscan habit .
• His father ’s name was Camillo (Carmen) Mucci who
passed away on December 6, 1949. His mother’s name is Laura
Gaglini Mucci. He had two sisters Marie who passed away on February
28, 2002; Camille and two brothers George and Joseph.
• Father Flavian studied from first to eighth degree, in the
Mount Carmel Parochial School in East Boston,
Massachusetts and the secondary one in the same city.
• In St. Francis Seraphic Seminary in Lowell, Massachusetts,
Father Flavian studied language for two years. He also graduated
from East Boston High School 1952. In Troy, New York, he made his
novitiate, received his Franciscan habit and his name was changed
to Flavian In 1955
• For two years, Father Flavian studied Philosophy in the
Franciscan Seminar Lowell, Massachusetts. He also studied two years
of Philosophy and four of Theology in the seminar Mount Alvernia,
of Wappingers Falls, of New York.
• After finishing his studies with high qualifications, Father
Flavian was ordained as priest, on July 15, 1963, in New York.
• Being a Teacher of the College Cristopher Columbus High
School of Boston, stimulated by the thirst of knowledge, he taught
and finished his studies in Psychology and Pastoral Theology.
• In the fulfillment of the mandate of service, which characterizes
to the Franciscan order, Father Flavian moved to Central America,
on April 1st. 1964. He served for two months in Comayagua Honduras.
There
before he was transferred to La Villa San Antonio in the same Department,
where he rebuilt the church during eight month ( 1964 and 1965)
• Father Flavian served three years in Jutiapa, Guatemala
and together with Fr. Cyril Morisco built many schools, clinics
and churches. 1965-1967.
• On the 9th of July, 1967 he was assigned to Sonsonate, El
Salvador, where he still working in his internationally known project
AGAPE of El Salvador
• In August 1971, Father Flavian founded a monthly newspaper
called “Senderos” and kept it in operation for twelve
years consecutives.
• On April 5, 1972 in Sonsonate, he founded the first Children’s
Village for orphans, giving these children a
mother, brothers and sisters forming a families of their own.
• In Santa Tecla Father Flavian founded a second Children’s
Village orphans in 1976
• · In Santa Ana Father Flavian founded the third Children’s
Village orphans on October 19, 1983
• Father Flavian realized a great transcendence humanitarian
project, " AGAPE Center " in Sonsonate, began on March
04, 1978, feeding the poor and abandoned people in the streets three
meals a day every
day of the year.
• On November 12, 1983, Inaugurated the second stage of the
Association AGAPE of El Salvador, which consists of Workshops Schools:
Electricity, Mechanics, Refrigeration, electronics, Bakery, Industrial
Seam and Tailoring, also built a Retreat House and a Convent for
the Religious.
• On December 8, 1985, Father Flavian built and delivered
105 houses to marginal and poor families in Izalco Sonsonate, who
displeased their origin places during armed conflict.
• On March 1987, inaugurated the Nutritional Hospital for
Children unique in it kind in El Salvador.
• On March 5, 1990, the Broadcasting Radio Agape 90.1 F.M.
began to cover the whole Western zone of El
Salvador.
• On March 2 1991,Father Flavian inaugurated the College St.
Francis of Assisi.
• On October 4 1991, Father Flavian inaugurated the House
and Telephone of Prayer a project of Spiritual and communication
area.
• On March, 1992, Father Flavian began the work in the rural
zone of Sonsonate, Ahuachapán and Santa Ana, two Mobile Clinics
of Health with support from the Technical Secretariat of the External
Financing
(SETEFE)
• On October 1992, initiated communication in Radio Luz in
97.7 F.M., both station radios Agape y Luz are dedicated to the
renewal of moral and spiritual values.
• On November 1992, the medical attention began in the Palm,
San Ignacio and Citalá, in Chalatenango's Department with
two mobile clinics of Health equipped it as Welfare Clinic.
• On August 1993, inaugurated the Sanctuary Divine Providence
as contribution to the catholic village in general stops the spiritual
strengthening.
• On September 1993, inaugurated the Gymnasium of the College
St. Francis of Assisi as complement to the education and integral
formation of the youth in El Salvador
• On March 1994, began the Press-Workshop offering education
to youth in this area to contribute to the development of the poor
and demobilized persons, same time this program became part of the
Productive
area in order to benefit societies strengthen.
• On April 1995, to offer services to the public Agape Hotel
was opened to offers a comfortable and sure stay in Sonsonate to
the tourists and visitors.
• On November 1996, Inaugurated Dona Laura Restaurant an elegant
and familiar place. This program is supporting to the Home for the
Elderly " Paz y Bien " in addition benefit societies.
• On January 1996, a new program was created God's Rescue
to save the youngsters from a street life of crime and possible
drug addiction to prevent further abuse and exploitation, they receive
education and psychological orientation.
• On February 13 1997, Father Flavian realized " The
First Banquet of the Love ".

On June 30 1997, with FIAES'S support to Agape of El Salvador improved
the Reforestation and construction of the first Ecological park
of Sonsonate's Area.
•
On July 18 1998, inaugurated the Computation Center named Napoleon
Viera Altamirano a vocational training program to youth.
• In 1998 the Salvadorian Institute of Vocational Training
(INSAFORP) accredited the Professional Center of Vocational Agape
where more than 200 courses per years have been given to more than
4000 youth until this date.
• The Government of El Salvador through the MINED Ministry
of Education in 1999 delivered in Administration the Technological
Institutes of Sonsonate and Chalatenango (ITSO and ITCHA respectively)
then in the same year MINED accredited the frequency of the Channel
8 of Television, Allowing to create a different TV Channel with
a social commitment to improve to the rescue of human values. Resulted
by the transparence in the managing of the resources and to the
faith fulfillment and Commitment with the Mission demonstrated by
father Flavian
•In
1999 Bankers' Association of El Salvador (ABANSA) supported the
execution of Rural Integral Health Project (PROSARIN) as sample
of the Technical and Administrative credibility of AGAPE of El Salvador.
• In 1999 Mastery's School in Administration of Harvard University
of United States, realized a study on the Administrative Managerial
of AGAPE of El Salvador who gave a favorable opinion about Agape
model of work.
• In 1999 built a "double extension of the Hospital for
Malnourished Children" this hospital was founded in 1987 these
was possible by the economic support of the Foundation KRIETE
• In 1999 began PROSARIN project of Rural Integral Health
to improve health in the rural zones of Sonsonate's Department.

• On December 2000 LEARNING TOGETHER a new program directed
to Children began to improve the stimulation of initial education
for children from 0 to 4 years old and their parents learning how
care to their children .
• In 2000 ALPHABETIZATION AND EDUCATION BASIC OF ADULTS PROGRAM
Ministry of Education is supporting economically to AGAPE of El
Salvador to teach to adults how learn and read. All those persons
live in rural and urban zones in Sonsonate and Ahuachapan ,so educational
promoters visit them to teach.
• In 2001 built 471 permanent and temporary houses Agape of
El Salvador in coordination with Manufacturers' Salvadorian Association,
Chamber of
Industry of Costa Rica and National Commission of Solidarity offered
humanitarian assistance and new houses to the families affected
by the earthquakes in January and February 2001.
• In 2001 Microsoft Integral technological Center began to
contribute to the youth technology and advanced in computational
area, offering low cost course and internet access
• In October 2001 Eradication of the infantile work in the
industry of the coffee to eradicate the infantile work, this program
began to improve through 4 components Health, Education, Sensitization
and Training according with major world programs of technical cooperation
about Child Labour the
International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Programme
on the elimination of Child Labour (IPEC)
• In 2001 Visual Health of Cataracts in Sonsonate this program
began to support all poor persons who need attention in their eyes.

• In 2002 Rural Integral Health (PROSARIN) a program sponsored
by Kriete Foundation to help and to give attention in preventive
health specifically to the rural zones in Sonsonate
• In 2002 Agape of El Salvador received accreditation to train
in modality center company to offer professional services in educational
programs called HABIL 2002, INTEGRA 2002 and YOUNG PEOPLE
•In 2003 Young people program began to offers educational
training to the youth in El Salvador, sponsored by Catholic Relief
Service(CRS)
• In 2003 Entra 21 to contribute to then disadvantaged youth
in the computation area in Sonsonate and La Union began an initiative
of the Youth International Foundation (YIF) and the Investments
of Multilateral Fund (IMF) in alliance with USAID and Association
Agape of El Salvador offering free computation courses.
• On November 14, 2003, placement of the first stone to the
construction of the building of Sonsonate Technological Institute
• In 2003 Began satellite office of national red employee
to offers an opportunity to enlace employers /companies and unemployed.

• On February 18, 2004 began the VIH/SIDA prevention program
to contribute and improve health of Sonsonate population

In 2004 Began Eradication of the infantile work in the industry
of the garbage collector to eradicate these activity, this program
began to improve through 4 components Health, Education, Sensitization
and Training sponsored by the International Labour Organization
(ILO) and the International Programme on the elimination of Child
Labour (IPEC), specifically in dust-bin Acachapa, Ishuatan Sonsonate
• 2004 – 2006 Began the Protection management and recovery
260 mzn of natural forest project in Plan de Amayo Caluco in Sonsonate
