Agape began with a soup kitchen in 1978 serving the needy in the streets
of Sonsonate |
| On
March 4, 1978 The Association Agape of El Salvador, began
with a simple soup kitchen. This program continues up to
this day on Avenue Fray Flavian Mucci in Sonsonate, where
hundreds of poor and abandoned people receive three meals
a day every day of the year. |

Thanks
to the unconditional support and generosity of our donors,
companies, institutions, benefactors, collaborators and friends,
Agape now has 46 different projects which help the poor in
El Salvador. |

| On January
6, 2003, Fray Flavian Mucci offered a Mass of Thanksgiving
for all the who help and work in these humanitarian projects
. He also imparted AGAPE anniversary pins to all members
of the board of directors and all employees. |

Encounter 2003. A wonderful time was
had by all |
On February,
1st. the Committee “Pro Mejoramiento de Sonsonate” realized
its fourth encounter 2003 with all our friends who live or
lived in Sonsonate. Mr. Alvaro Torres, Mariachi Cuscatleco
and the Orchestra “Do Major”, provided the music,
thanks to our good friend Mr. Fausto Vergara . Approximately
1000 people attended the celebration. |

On February
26th ,2003 AGAPE celebrated its sixth Banquet of Love. This
banquet consist of a consist of a symbolic dinner where the
invited guests receive only a glass of wine, a cup consume
and a piece of bread. This year Fray Flavian`s family from
Boston, Massachusetts were special guests. The Apostolic
Nuncio Mons. Giacinto Berlocco, the Archbishop of El Salvador
Mons. Fernando Saenz La Calle, and the Vice-President of
El Salvador Dr.Carlos Quintanilla Smith vice-president were
also present. It was an evening of sacrifice and unconditional
love for the poor of El Salvador. |

| Agape
of El Salvador was founded on March 4, 1978. For this reason,
an anniversary mass of thanksgiving was celebrated in our
beautiful sanctuary. The papal Nuncio Mons. Giacinto Berlocco
and some seven bishops concelebrated the mass with Fray Flavian.
Many Priests, military, diplomatic and civilian authorities
attended this mass. The papal Nuncio read a letter sent to
our organization by the Holy father in Rome, and presented
the Holy Father’s Golden Medal BENEMERENTI to Fray
Flavian. |

Our 25th
anniversary began on the 4th of march with a large car procession
which began in agape Sonzacate at 4:30 a.m. over a hundred
cars marched through the streets of Sonsonate accompanied
by the local band. everyone had their radios tuned to our
agape radio so, that everyone knew what was taking place
at the same time. all the employers of agape, the students
of St Francis college, authorities, friends and even Fr.
Flavian´s family who was visiting us. after the parade
tamales, coffee, cakes, atol shuco and other delicious plates
were served for all. finally all the children received toys.
Later
on in the day a beautiful ceremony was held in Marie
Mucci's Hall, where all the employers were given a recognition
plaque and a bible. even Fr. Flavian received a beautiful
Champion Silver cup for his 25 years of service

stamp was issued on the 3rd. of September, commemorating
the 25th. Anniversary of Agape. The General Director of the
Post Office, Lic. Hugo Mario Cordova B. presented this award
to the Association |

A celebration of the feast of St. Francis. |
A solemn
Mass was celebrated by Mons. Jose Adolfo Mojica Bishop of
Sonsonate, and Fray Flavian on the 4th. of October to celebrated
the Feast of our patron Saint, St. Francis of Assisi. This
mass was celebrated in our Sanctuary with all our employees
and friends in attendance. After the mass, music was supplied
by the Dr, Humberto Romero Albergue School and the Center
Fray Bartolome de las Casas of Juayua. |

| The first
stone of the future Divine Mercy Oratory was laid on the
4th of October. A 24 hour hotline telephone will be installed
and the Shrine will have perpetual adoration of the Eucharist. |

Agape
of El Salvador presented plaques to all the communications,
(Radio, newspaper, Television, etc.) who have helped us transmitting
the message of love to each one of El Salvador.

Our painting
exhibition took places on the 29th. of October. Proceeds
will be used to support our program for the street kids.
This is a preventive program to keep them away from gangs
and drugs.

Our Radio
Telethon 2003 took place on October 30th. – 31st. and
November 1st These funds will help support our means of communications
(Radio and Television. So, that the word of God can continue
to be preached to the world. Monsignor Eugenio Hoyos from
Washington attended this event. Many talents individuals
and musical groups donated their time and talent to make
this Radio Telethon a success. |

In
order to close the 25th . anniversary of Agape of El Salvador
we have been programming the following activities: Saturday
December 6th the Callejoneada in Sonsonate( Barrio El Pilar)
by Committee Pro mejoramiento of Sonsonate. Sunday December
21st Radio Agape will celebrate their Christmas Carnival
with participation of national musical groups.
